Company description

Abarca is igniting a revolution in healthcare. We started by redefining pharmacy benefits, but this is just the beginning. We built our company on the belief that with a smarter technology and a straightforward approach to business, we can provide a better experience and greater value for payers and consumers.

For fifteen years, we have questioned the industry status quo and changed what it means to be a PBM. So call us a PBM for discussion purposes, but we are unlike any other company out there. And today, we manage more than $3.5 billion in drug spend for 3.2 million lives with unheard of client satisfaction and retention. Join the revolution!

Pros
Trabajo remoto disponible.
Cons
No tienes oportunidad de crecimiento, falta de comunicación, mala paga.

Never had clear understanding of the goals and my manager did not help me at all
Status: Previously employed
When I started with the company everything seemed perfect. But a couple of months into my role I started to feel lost. The communication wasn’t clear; nobody knew what they wanted and we always had to revisit the tasks because not even the task requester knew what they wanted. You may get a task of a specific area one day and the next day you may get a task about another area. They expect you to learn all the processes of the new area, understand all the code, and complete all the tasks assigned to you within an unrealistic timeframe. Management did not help either. If you are a leader, you put your team on your shoulders. The only responses I got from management was that I was late with my tasks. The team lead of my team only mocked and disrespected me because I didn’t know the processes. The culture is not what they sold me; I never felt that there was a sense of family or that no matter what people would help you no matter what. Late responses or you might never get a response. I was really excited about this opportunity, but this has been the worst experience of my career.
Pros
Unlimited PTO (if they honor it)
Cons
10-12 hours days, Management, Communication, No clear goals for the cells

Nice people, great benefits
Status: Employed
Training was a bit difficult with limited specific training documents so it’s definitely self driven after the initial onboarding. Unlimited PTO, paid 12 week maternity leave, health insurance is a bit pricey but it’s good coverage.
Pros
Unlimited pto
Cons
Training

They want to become the best place to work...keep trying.
Status: Previously employed
The interview process was amazing and I was eager to work there. The onboarding process is good, but once you start working directly on your position, things can be messy. There are no clear objectives in what you will be evaluated. The feedback that you receive sometimes is subject to interpretation, and they never give a good feedback or praise if you are not in their circle of friends. I never felt that I could use my talents and skills to a great extent. And when I did, my boss took the credit for it. Not even said thanks. The thing that I enjoyed the most was the interview and onboarding process. They let us move from the office to work remotely when COVID-19 pandemic lockdown came. After that, is a normal day to day job and if someday you do not feel valued by the company, YES, You are correct, they do not value you.
Pros
Great Onboarding, Great talent to work with
Cons
Management is disorganized and no clear goals

Not what they claim to be, antagonistic environment, low standards.
Status: Previously employed
This has been the worst, most disappointing and frustrating work experience I've ever had. At first, I was very happy and excited to be there, mostly because of the culture they use to draw you in but this enthusiasm faded 4 to 6 months in. If you're eager to learn and grow, you are diligent, accountable, and joyful about providing value to the company and clients, this is NOT the place for you. Company wide, there's no clear structure, no quality/performance standards or procedures. "Team-mates" had no problem in going above you to get their way or manipulate our manager to get me to do tasks they considered inferior and/or even their own. With no one to directly supervise, it's easy to get away with lots of things. Preferential treatment is very common.Pay discrepancies are huge within the same departments and there will be people with less education and experience that will make more and get promoted without actually doing their job. Evaluations make no sense as there are no clear objectives, trainings or follow thru. It all boils down to who know, how you relate to them and how good your sucking up skills are. Whenever I would use my skills to create better ways of doing things or improve tasks, others would take credit for them. No team work at all, everyone is looking out for themselves. The micro-managing, abismal. And management? Incompetent. On the DAILY, we would receive the SAME complaints over and over again from clients, beneficiaries, vendors and employees etc. These issues were never corrected or sealed with properly and if you'd relay the complaints to - more...
Pros
Paycheck
Cons
Bad pay, bad management, no growth opportunities.

They want to be something big but come up short
Status: Previously employed
The company is constantly changing and people cannot keep up. They advance you if you are nice and not if you are qualified. Not professional in the way the talk about everyone.
Pros
Unlimited PTO
Cons
Management, No opportunities to grow, fake culture
