Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Developer Advocate to join the AWS Kubernetes team. The AWS Kubernetes team builds and operates Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), providing our customers with a secure, flexible, and highly available way to create, manage, and operate Kubernetes clusters.

AWS Kubernetes Developer Advocates (DAs) work to represent our customers from within the Amazon EKS product team during all phases of product development. As a DA, you will leverage your hands-on technical experience and data gathered through your relationships with customers to influence the product roadmap. You will work alongside Product Managers and engineering teams to help design, build, and launch the best features possible to address our customers' biggest challenges.

DAs on the team work to identify and anticipate customer challenges, and solve them within the context of Kubernetes and Amazon EKS. DAs engage as individuals directly with our technical customer community, and we pride ourselves on our ability to communicate complex technical content with simplicity and honesty.

As a Principal Developer Advocate in the AWS Kubernetes team, you have significant in-depth of knowledge of the systems and technologies behind your Kubernetes and Amazon EKS, including its limitations, scaling factors, boundary conditions, and reasons behind certain architectural decisions. You are able to continually drive simplicity and demonstrate significant creativity, especially in circumstances where there is a lot of ambiguity. You are able to answer deep technical questions posed by customers about Kubernetes and EKS and can explain when additional products/services are needed (and when they are not). You understand the limitations of Kubernetes and can guide customers toward a path of success despite them. You will also drive mindful discussions with engineering teams, probe assumptions, illuminate pitfalls, and foster shared understanding. Finally, you will lead or participate in internal initiatives, including evangelism, customer-outcome mechanism scaling, content creation, etc.

This is a high-impact role that's well-suited to someone with deep Kubernetes experience that enjoys sharing what they know and have learned in order to help customers solve their technical issues and overcome any challenges they face. You will have the ability to influence and educate customers at every stage of their experience with Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.

In this role, you will spend time learning and experimenting on our customers’ behalf. Upstream contributions and Kubernetes project involvement is strongly encouraged. Participating in these upstream communities will inform and influence the product roadmap for EKS. You will work alongside product managers and engineering teams to define, design, test, and launch new features. You will identify gaps in our products and documentation, and have direct impact on addressing those gaps. You will work with marketers to identify areas to engage the community, amplify the materials and resources you create, and identify areas of improvement in our public content for Amazon EKS.

You will produce technical content to help our customers learn about new features, and guide their plans for adoption and growth. You'll offer opinionated and timely guidance on how to make the most of the features and functions of Amazon EKS. This content includes blog posts, technical presentations, workshops, and video content. You will work with Amazon EKS and other AWS services to create sample code and demo applications to help communicate complex ideas and scenarios.

This is a rare opportunity to work with a high impact team, focusing on a growing service and an innovative technology.
